Overview
Nepal, situated between two great nations of the world is having its own unique social and cultural heritage. Due to its diversified geographical settings from north to south people’s way of living varies depending on their place of dwelling. Different religion, sect, cast, cult and regional faction are prevailing in this country. However the people do not have conflict and living together in a harmonized manner. It was accepted as a country of peace all over the world. But over the last decade this atmosphere of harmonization was broken down and lost peace form the country. Chaos encircled people’s life. Many people men, women and children have been killed as a result of the conflict. Many families become homeless. People are displaced from their home. Countless of inhabitants suffered directly or indirectly in their way of living. Environment destroyed due to the deforestation. Life style of the people disturbed. Community disharmonized. People are bound to live in chaos.
In view of all this circumstances a group of social young volunteers encouraged to do something for the betterment of the society especially in the field of child, environment and community. A better way to restore the happiness of the people is the improvement of suffered women and children, the group diagnosed. This concept has given birth of OCCED/Nepal, the short name of Organization for Community, Child and Environment in Nepal. This is a campaign to encompass the entire unprivileged group and for the restoration of our lost metaphors for the better tomorrow. UN Convention on Right of the Child is attempting to safeguard the right of children but how far the Principle and Provisions of the convention is implemented in the nation and is a big question mark for all of us.
